Ultrasonograpic Measurement of Splenic Size in Korean Normal Adults

Abstract
|
|
|
As a result of measuring the size of spleen in korean people by ultrasonography, the following conclusions were obtained.
1. Splenic size by according to the gender
1) spleen long length was 9.04±1.28 cm in male and 8.01±1.21 cm in female.
2) Spleen Index was 30.92±8.93 cm2 in male and 24.057.32 cm2 in female.
2. Splenic size by according to the age
1) Spleen long length was (10.04 cm/M, 8.42 cm/F) in 20s, (9.22 cm/M, 8.38 cm/F) in 30s, (8.92 cm/M, 7.93 cm/F) in 40s, (8.53 cm/M, 7.39 cm/F) in 50s and (8.68cm/M, 7.69 cm/F) in 60s.2) Spleen Index was (35.11 cm2/M, 26.70 cm2/F) in 20s, (32.56 cm2/M, 26.30 cm2/F) in 30s, (30.35 cm2/M, 23.49 cm2/F) in 40s, (28.08 cm2/M, 20.33 cm2/F) in 50s and (28.57 cm2/M, 22.20 cm2/F) in 60s.
3. Correlation between splenic size with age, height and weight Spleen long length and spleen Index negatively correlated with patient age (P<0.001), and positively correlated with patient height and weight (P<0.001).
4. Multiple linear regression
1) Spleen long length (cm) = 6.948-0.034×Age+0.047×Weight (R2 = 0.220).
2) Spleen Index (cm2) = 15.123-0.203×Age+0.325×Weight (R2 = 0.219).
